I got a bunch of stuff at a swap meet including these two pistons.
Can somebody ID them ? Possibly Austin Champ . Not much use as there is only two. These are ex Hillman Spa.res stock. For those in the Melbourne vintage car scene - Norm W. of Hillman spa.res passed away and some of his huge stock of Vintage car parts has been doing the rounds, much of the stock was water damaged from poor storage and has been scrapped. Very sad situation, there was a huge stock of very rare parts , early Land Rover stuff and much more covered in rust. Similar situation with Standard Triumph spares based at Lilydale, the owner passed on and the huge stock of parts has been cleaned up by scrap merchants.

Hi Mike,
I have six piston kits in almost identical packaging for my Daimler Ferret Scoutcar. The Austin Champ (B40), Daimler Ferret (B60), Saracen/saladin (B80) and many more post war British MVs shared a common basic engine design in the Rolls Royce ‘B’ series, whether 4,6 or 8 cylinder range they shared a very high commonality of parts interchangeability. Pistons were issued in pairs for obvious reasons of fkexibility across the B series range You may recall I had a Mk1 FV432 APC project years ago and it too had a Rolls Royce B81 Mk 8F petrol engine. Imho they are a beautiful feat of engineering, slightly old fashioned for an early 1950s design but robust, very very reliable if heavy on fuel. Not all B series engines were actually manufactured by Rolls Royce themselves (Insert raging debate here) If you want to sell those two I would be interested I recall I may have a set of 4 in a box somewhere from an Austin Champ clearout Cheers Phill

Hi Mike,
It may well be suitable for Ferret. I tried looking it up in my photocopied parts book but some pages are missing including the instrument panel 😳 I will keep researching Cheers Phill

I think that tach goes on many of the vehicles of that era. There are a few advertised on line.
