65 years ago today, elements of the Canadian Army conducted a raid upon the French resort town of Deippe.
2nd Can Infantry Div provided the majority of the soldiers involved, B Sqn Calgary Tanks', RCE, RCSigs rounded out the Canadian numbers. Fifty USArmy Rangers and Lord Lovatts' Commandos also played their part in what has become one of the most talked about actions of the Second World War in the West.
Historians, politicians, and Arm-Chair Generals have argued the merits and foibles of the operation since before the corditite stink had left the air. Of course the Veterans of Op JUBILEE have their opinions, and I am singularly blessed to have known a few of these men who put their fear on the back burner to get an oppritunity to get a kick at an enemy who dragged them away from their peace-time world.
I salute you all.

Cheers

In memory of all who fought and died in that action

In support of those who remain to tell the story
