Default Spa

There is some advanced engineering on this SPA. when we first had it we could move it in and out of the garage easily. Then on one occasion when I tried to push it out it wouldn't move. My mate came over and I asked him what he had been mucking about with., if you look at the picture no. 3 you will see two levers on the diff. he had been playing with the one on the left which had been stuck and he managed to free it up. It turned out that when you engaged this lever it would lock the diff, therefor if you were going up a steep gradient and you missed a gear the SPA would not roll back and you could engage first gear and go on your way.`The other good thing about the SPA is that it has an impulse magneto On swing the starting handle you get a click bang so no broken wrist.I have a great video of us playing with the SPA towing a Skip lorry. John, I assume that there is just the one differential, mounted inside the gearbox?
Real treat to see one of these at Corowa this year, fascinating vehicle that is so rare over here. (Obviously others thought the same as it won the peoples choice award).
Rich.

Here is a picture of one that could be seen at Kufra Oasis in the 1960s.
