Default C-60S Engineers CMP

Hi guys,

I've been back out on the road chasing ghost stories and I came across this vehicle. I'm thinking of adding it to the collection. If anyone has information about this type of "Engineer" CMP, I'd appreciate the feedback. Photos on this link:

an original Derrick Truck by the looks of it. There are a few photos of them new on Service Publications Factory Photos CD. Also used by airforce units to lift engines off planes for servicing.

Nice find Rich, haven't we seen this on here before?

Search this forum for "Derrick" and you'll find a thread or two.

If you ask me this truck is really worth saving as very few seem to be preserved nowadays and overall condition seems good (?). As Hanno mentioned, a (another?) Derrick surfaced on the forum some time ago; I don't know if it was saved.

Here is a great period colour picture of one in Normandy!

Alex,

Thanks for posting the picture. I have a couple from the GMC photo catalog but they are of the Cab 11/12 style.

Hanno, you are correct. I posted a couple of winter pics last year of this same vehicle. I had only heard of it through the locals and I had to jump the fence to see it. The owner of the vehicles has contacted me and he wants to seem it go to a good home and not the scrap yard. The rhetorical question becomes - how many can one save?

Good news is that this one is easy to get to and it is supposed to be in running condition. Again, I will post more pictures as they become available.

Back at it, Richard.

Default F-60S Derrick Truck Status

Hello,
The F-60S Derrick truck was also moved to level ground this week and along with the C-60X, will be floated to my shop. The jib boom will be removed for transport. More pictures will be available as it is power washed and prepared for storage.
Regards, Richard

Default Engineers CMP floated to it's new home

Hello,
Today, the 3 trucks were floated to Commercial Pallet by All Ontario Recycling. Unload was straight forward and lacked adventure. The Engineers Lorry is now safe and sound and awaiting a good power washing and inspection. Lots of bits and parts in the side compartments and cab. Check out the pictures and forward any advice or comments.
Regards, Richard

Default CMP Derrick

The truck you have is exactly the same as the one my Dad found on its side at Balikpapan in 1945, and had been used by the Royal Australian Engineers or RAEME. It looked exactly like the attached.
