Default Jap staff car Plymouth

Found this on Facebook. The car appears to be a 1939 Plymouth and it is RHD.

"Canadian sailors from HMCS Prince Robert stop a Japanese staff car and disarm the Japanese officer driving it. Hong Kong, 2nd September 1945 (CWM)"

Hi Lynn

The 'PLYMOUTH' badges are the right way around. Could be a captured ex-British civilian car. The Japs did move captured vehicles around to their various bases in the large areas they controlled.

Sailor is carrying a No1MkIII* SMLE. Is that unusual for Canadians in 1945, or par for the course in RCN?
