Default Chev wireless van and Jap KANA code

Found this little book written by a former AWAS signaller. She was trained to receive the Japanese KANA code . 70 characters to learn ..... they would do 4 hour shifts inside the van with Kingsley AR7 receivers ..listening to Rabaul and major Jap links ..the Japs often reverted to plain language ... very slack and so on. The unit trained at Bonegilla ..near Wodonga. They were posted to various locations , WA and QLD .

Mike

PS looking at the front hub, it appears to be one of the less common 4X4 variants , most of them were the C15 variety.

Default Fascinating

What an interesting story, and thanks for sharing it Mike.

It was the WO12 (C15A) version as opposed to the WO73 which was the C15 4X2 one.

The Atherton Tablelands in behind Port Douglas was w busy training area during the war.
