Default CMP Box cushions

Hi Guys

Does any one have drawings or specs for making the rear seats for the CMP box.

These are the seat cusions that went on the tire wells in the back of the truck.

Any help would be apprieciated.

Cheers

Default Clarification please....

Hi Hanno

Are they saying that the seats that fit over the fenders are two separete front seat cushions fastened to a board and held in place by metal straps that fit down into the foot man loops...or ... the picture shows some sort of canvass belts and buckles...... but I can't tell if it is one contineous cushion suitable for two soldiers or two separete front seat cushions......

One of the many thing I will have to reproduce for my 2B1 box.....

Thanks

Bob C.

I have what i think are a couple of cmp seats swabs with covers, i can post up a picture, they have springs in them with a horse hair cushion on top all covered over with a canvas cover with three lift the dot fastners, two on the square front, one centre one on the curved back.

If they are what you are looking for i am interested to trade for carrier parts.

kevin.

Thanks for the picture.

Do you or anyone, have an idea on how they fastened to the fender wells, I have the metal loops on the wells but its hard to tell from the picture how they attached to the seat cusions. they look very loose, and were they made from OD canvas?

Here's a close-up view of the 2H1 seat. You can see that it's really two cushions and looks to be made of other than canvas. The second pic is a 2B1 with a good view of the seat back. The third is from the parts list for the 2B1. I have an original rear seat out of a 1A2 box and it's made out of a brown vinyl material. The 2B1 parts list shows the same part number as the 1A2 so they're two regular CMP seat bottoms only covered with brown vinyl. There's no colour option for the rear seat bottoms in any of the parts lists. The part # 1411 seat cushion is used on the following in the 1942 illustrated body parts list:
1A1 personnel carrier (3)
1A2 wireless (2 or 3)
2B1 cable layer (4)
2B1 anti tank tractor (4)
2B1 personnel carrier (2+4)
Cab 11 FAT (6)
30 cwt ambulance (1)
This kind of leads me to think that all the rear seat cushions with the exception of the 2A1 variants were the brown vinyl covered ones. The 2A1s used the 1151 cushion assembly but there's a note to replace with the 1411.
I have nothing to indicate how the 1511 would be different. Colour maybe?

Default CMP Cusions

Thanks

I was also thinking it could be the same ,material as the carrier seats. Almost a green school bus material. When i look at the picture it doesn't appear to have the texture of OD canvas.

Here's a close-up of the brown leatherette material off the 1A2 rear seat. From what I can see, all CMP rear sears were likely covered with the same stuff and the same colour too.

Default Seat Cusions

Thanks

I was thinking that the cusions were made in OD as the drive seats but thats a real eye opener.

Is it a leather material? or vinal type? How thick are they they look to be at least 4 inches?

Cheers

Default Seat cusions

Thanks David

I am also trying to figure out how they attach to the fender wells. I have the loops on each side of the wells. But when you look at the photo of what Hanno posted they look as if they are very loose. I just wondered how they attached under the cusions

Cheers

This thread shows the seat springs assembly.
seat springs
On that closeup of the 2H1 seat you can see that those are metal straps that go through the footman loops. You can also see that there's another metal strap going crosswise between these two. They'd be what the cushion straps down to.
Kevin, could you post a pic of what you have? It might help to show how they'd attach.
