The last dambuster
Another talking book. The last British dambuster - Johno Johnson. This chap survived two tours, over 60 missions as a gunner/bomb aimer. It is a honest account of the goings on behind the scenes.
The author describes Guy Gibson as being a pompous arrogant so and so but at the same time, a brilliant pilot. He says Gibson would not talk to the NCO's or the airmen, but only to his fellow officers. The author, then a Flight Sergeant, said Gibson never spoke to him at any time during Gibson's time as the squadron CO. Leonard Cheshire is described as being his best ever CO, a down to earth friendly approachable person. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/File:T...rmy_clouds.jpg
