Default Turret Ring ID Please

Today I found this turret ring hidden under some bushes. Located in Perth, Western Australia, I can only think that it is from a M3 Grant as it is quite large.

The outside diameter of the gear ring is 1500mm. The outside diameter of the outer ring is 1660mm (approx).

The outer ring has 40 bolt holes.

Hello Tommy,

Could be Staghound also.
Outside diameter of the outer ring being approx 1660mm is a match with the turret ring on my Staghound, as are the 40 mounting holes.
There also are 40 bolts which hold the assembly together.

The Staghound inner turret ring has a cluster of 4 9/16" UNF threaded holes to mount the traversing control mechanism.
When you put this cluster at the 12 o'clock position there are 4 more of these 9/16" UNF threaded holes at 2, 5, 7 and 10 o'clock.
Between these holes there are a lot of smaller 3/16"UNF holes.

Marco

Hi Guys
May be a Matilda ring gear,
Stags and grants have very simlar ring gears, however stag and grant rings have slightly different hull attachemnt hole PCD.

What were they using it for?

Kind regards
Matt

The 'contraption' that you see in the photo is a rotating display platform. Behind the central post is a washing machine motor which delivers the rotation power. It apparently held boating gear and was towed to boat shows and displays.
