Default Stolen #52 set

The following message is being sent around the military circles wrt a #52 set missing from the 5 CDSG in a message sent from the curator of the CMEM:

Quote:
Could you please circulate the attached photograph with annotations. The set was removed from a CFB Gagetown storage area without authorization. The radioactive compound noted has been removed, so it is not a hazard.

Should anyone be offered this, they should contact their local police to let them know as it has been listed with the Military Police.

The set is described as a 1944 Marconi with a broken (Ra226) switch, on the bottom right of the set. I assume the Ra226 is indicative of the radium.
Photo attached. Hanno, if this is in the wrong forum, feel free to move it.

While this is semi true, I was the person who found the item missing, it was not stolen from a storage area, it was being packed up for shipment to montreal. It was also the New Brunswick Military History Museum.
In fact the real reason it is wanted returned is it is emitting and goes of the scale with the counter.

Jason.

Default museum staff contract

All of this is coincidental to another announcement I saw from last week:

"Publication Date: 24 Oct 2017

The museum at the Canadian Forces School of Military Engineering is currently experiencing a several year backlog in artifact processing and seven years of data updates to be entered into Canadian Forces Artifact Management System. To resolve this issue, an Request for Proposal (RFP) has been issued by CFSME for a contractor to process the backlogged items in order to bring the museum catalogue up to date. Proposals will be accepted by CFSME up to 1600 hrs 27 November 2017 (AST) with the winning bid announced by 8 December.

The RFP maybe downloaded below."

Default #52 set(s)

Now you are confusing me. What does the RNBR's #52 set have to do with the missing #52 set from the CMEM? Are they both gone?

That may be partially my fault, as I have since learned. I have amended the initial post to reflect who is missing it and who was circulating it.

As to being behind on artifact accessioning and processing, I would like to meet the museum that isn't. As much as you try to catch up, or adapt to whatever database is new this decade, the stuff just keeps coming in. Hopefully the CFSMEM's hiring of a company to do the work makes some good headway along with quality archiving. Nothing worse than something being accessioned under the wrong description, and stored away. Well except if it walks away I guess.

Hi

To be clear,

The #52 set reported in the first post of this thread is missing from the New Brunswick Military History Museum on Base Gagetown. CFSME is a different museum on Base. The theft info was probably promulgated through them since the NBMHM Director has been away for a time.

It was not taken from a storage area but rather from a shipping area as it was waiting pick up and disposal by Base. It was wrapped and taped up in heavy clear plastic sheeting.

I know Jason scanned it and it is hot hot hot with radioactive emissions!

If it stays missing/stolen, look for thief with hair and teeth loss and a very pale complexion, eventually!!

Please contact Base Gagetown MP's if sighted. (506) 422-1404

Terry, where are you getting RNBR out of this? Jason's avatar is the only thing I can think of. Don't tell anyone but he was one once, long ago!!

regards
Darrell

Hi Bruce

Unsure.

It was stored in the basement and that was being abated completely due to black mold. 99.99% of the items down there were in a state that was about ten steps beyond disgusting. Under a civilian contractor, all the inert stuff like fabrics and metal items was removed and disposed of. They were in full suits and masks throughout.

The complicated things like that 52 set were to be taken away by Base Supply and something done to control/eliminate (?) their rad hazard. How that was to be done is beyond me. Not my monkey, not my circus.

It was marked, tagged, and wrapped and put where Base said to but they never came to get it. I'd say some one really wanted it or just plain can't read!

regards
Darrell
