Hey , could someone please post the famous picture of then Major Currie in Normandy taken just after the action he was awarded the VC for please . That way our friends will understand our frustration . You know the picture where he is holding his pistol and a dumbass German officer in front of him seems to not realise what just happened .What do you mean the war is over for me ? That picture is worth $600,000 ... ( i can't post right now , i just have my Iphone ) .Cheers .

Is it this one?:

This seems to be the most common WW2 google image search result for "Currie VC".

Maj D Currie on the left with pistol and binos, German Officer is surrendering to Sgt-Maj G Mitchell.

The article would suggest that the present owner has to accept the offer rather than merely coming up with the last sale price. Hard to say if the present owner would want to sell it. I very much doubt he is assembling his massive collection of VCs to try and turn a profit.

Brenda Currie said the family is grateful for all the effort it took to keep the Currie VC in Canada.
“It makes me feel so happy,” she said. “I’m elated. They’re home. They’re home.”
Perhaps if families wanted their recipient's medals to remain in Canada, they should not sell them in the first place.
