Thanks Nigel, I'll get the arm mailed early next week.
I'd perfer the welding/riveting to be done on the one I get. All that I'd like to do is bolt it together and then bolt it onto the carrier. I'd also be interested in one of the shepards crooks to go on the front of my carrier.

Hi Doug
I've responded to your PM but you are on the list. Hi Kevin Delayed again. Talking to my mate Sam, where looking at another 4-5 weeks yet until I can finish them off. I'm starting to sound like a broken record. I hate saying that but I must. I am looking forward to finishing them off. Sorry guys but life gets in the way. Hi Jordan Mate, just so you know, nothing in the mail yet. I've got you down for a shepards crook and a fully welded base. Ron and Mike Toothed base bit only. Got it. I'll have a couple more cast. Maybe 3? Richard T and Shaun OK no welding. got it. Right, I've answered all of you at last. What did I get myself into to. She's right fellas. I'll get it done. Nigel |

Radio Mast Bases
Hi Nigel, Is there an update on the completion of the mast bases?, I got given a 19 set carrier cover and am now looking for carrier 19 set items.
Perhaps the uk bound ones could be posted to one central location when they are ready. thanks kevin.

As Kevin said, I'd be happy for mine to go to him or another. We can sort it out over here. I mentioned that Rory Ballard might want one, but I see he has his Morris for sale. But we'll still take it if it needs a home.
Ron very happy from Dorset UK. |

Aerial base
I recently aquired the base on the right, which takes a 5/8" dia rod. (the one on the left is the one fitted to the early carriers, and takes the 7/8" "D" set rods.
What does the 5/8 rod look like, what length is it, and what was it made of? Thanks to whoever.

Bases done
I have mine from Nige. Brilliant work. Fits really well together. Mine is at the painting stage before fitting, but really pleased with it. Just need some good drying weather that is above freezing and I'm home and dry.

Hi, Just wondering about the bases, Where would someone get the part lynn has featured as I take it Nigel has only fabricated the main aerial base part. There is also the bottom bit the spring/chain attaches too, does anyone have details of this. Would be good if someone could post a few pics in this thread of what the complete aerial base looks like with every part together, also details of the forward aeriel too.
kev.

Kevin.
I would do that, but you would then give me a hard time about having every thing.
(which of course isn't true) (Rich, you need to stretch your buget. you might be scratching to find another, later) Of course I wouldnt say this in public. The last picture is the remains of my rubber bumper. (the bottom bit is from the Pogo stick) Kevin, read back through the thread for info. This is one of very few that stays on topic. ....And besides Kevin,....it shifts the focus from the questions I asked.

Lynn, Thanks for the info, You couldnt put together a quick sketch with measurements of that bottom attachment, thread size, length etc. Also what the diameter of the spring please, looks similar to a 3 inch mortar recoil spring.
Thanks again kev.

Ant base
Hi all,
As I have advised Nigel mine is also available because it ended up being outside my budget. Also the existing pics I have of my vehicle in-service show it without an ant base or bracket fitted. It seems the antenna insulated base I have may be the later smaller type shown on the right in Lynn's post. I do have tge correct toothed base and the centre brass socket whuch means I can still remake the rest down the track... Cheers Phill

bases are done..well, almost
Hi Guys
The last 3 need the final touches but others are either sent to their new owners or waiting for finances to become available or on the shelf for their possible new owners to get back to me. I built 10 and had 14 odd inquiries so as some have declined due to price or for other reasons I am working through the list of those who showed interest. It appears the end price of AUD$550.00 is a bit of an issue. That's fine. It's a bit of a shock to me as well. As I have stated to some MLU members, had I known what I had let myself in fore there is no way I would have started. As I have also mentioned to members, here are some facts about making these bases. There are 44 separate parts. There are 20 folds, 22 welds, 4 hot rivets, 7 machined parts, 3 of which are purpose built bolt thingys (new word) and one cast aerial mount base. The biggest trick is to put this all together and make it work. I'd like to thank Sam Scholz for helping me. The scary part is that they are not even complete. As it has been pointed out there are parts missing. I only hope someone else makes them and puts me on the list for buying. It's been fun Kind Regards Nigel |

Nigel. please dont feel that i am having a pop about the price. that was not my intention...its just a bit out of my range as all....as previously stated they are very well manufactured indeed.

Richard
Hi Mate
I never thought that. I didn't write above to up set, have a dig at, put down or anything of the kind any person at all. The bases will sell over time and I'm pleased with what I have made. I respect that the money asked could, would and most likely should go to other parts of a carrier restoration that are more important. Things like aerial bases, radios and kit are end game items, not essentials. I thank you and all others for taking an interest in the bases and thank you for your kind words regarding the finished product. Nigel |

Hi Lynn, Kevin and all
I'd love to answer Kevin regarding post 140 but I can't. I don't know. I do have photos, maybe some measurements but nothing more than what has been posted already. Lynn, I think you are the best to answer. Sorry to through you in the deep end but you have originals. Not even the gentleman I borrowed from to copy what I supply had all the bits. I only copied what I could hold in my hands. No guess work. Copied as per sample. Sorry mate. I'll pass that one back to you. Nigel |

O.K. Nigel. I thought i'd measured it all up for you in detail and sent it to you.
I will do it again and post it on the forum, when I can get to it.

Hi Lynn
I just went through my email folder of your emails and the only info on measurements you sent to me were of the little bump stop for the pogo stick and one of a steel rule beside the big spring for the aerial base which you have posted on MLU. You may have measured up for someone else perhaps? I did take some measurements of bits when I visited you but the camera/operator was faulty and they are not clear. I'll have a look in my paper folders tonight, I may have overlooked something. Nigel |
