I'll add some photos of the truck in the RCA museum here in Shilo. Perhaps is another truck or two is added to the montage we'll have a concensous on what is by the book and what is fiction.

A couple more. If someone wants detail, just ask and I'll take them. Truck is only 50 feet from my desk.

Hi
Photos 1-10 are all the interior for a Bedford MWR in fact they are all the parts i had to make for my truck ,would they have been for sale on E-bay in the UK it seams odd that a truck which has managed to keep its original interior for so many years should be stripped out now ? could the clamps at the back of the wireless table be for more spare battery's ,the normal set up would be two pairs on the floor either side of the wireless table .
my first photo shows the restored interior of my truck
next photo shows the interior of truck as delivered from the factory

That's a flash back in time. Not many of those guys are with us sadly , I see Dave Brown from the AMVCS was there ? Is that rare Morris Commercial still around , it looks like a CD model - How did it get to Canada ?

The layout drawing is for an ASSU Tentacle with WS19 and TR1143, so will not be a particularly standard setup.

The radio table with the battery clamp frames on the back is probably for a WS11 because the battery frames look too shallow for an accumulator and are probably for a pair of 250 volt primary battery boxes.

The floor mounted battery frames will be identical in size and construction to the ones for the post-WW2 steel cased batteries (because both battery types had to be interchangeable during the changeover period). Batteries used were probably 6V 85AH or 6V 100/125AH, used in pairs. I can look the battery measurements up if required.

Chris.

Many thanks Rob.

What is that control module or panel called ?

It's part number or description please ?

It does not look anything like my Charging Panel C-5 Canadian.

I may have shrunk them a little too far so I could post them without issue. They are on a DND computer. I know we have issues trying to send and receive photos that are too big on that system, but sure, we can give it a shot. I'll have to figure out what the parameters are.

When I was in the box today I noted a few things that aren't right. For instance, a lot of the conduit is copper plumbing with soldered joints. Not so sure that is correct.

Chris.
It is strange that both of the original bench tops that I have also show witness marks for those two battery clamps across the rear along with the 5 metal strips (each 2/3 the width of the bench) to allow a variety of different sets to be installed.
Im beginning to wonder if those clamps were a standard factory fitting in British vehicles in addition to the five metal strips screwed to the bench-top.

More likely to be sheer inertia in the supply chain. There's a war on, rapid production is essential, and minor modifications that don't really achieve anything useful (they might save a bit of time and a small amount of material over a long run but would stop production while drawings were amended and jigs adjusted) will simply accumulate until there's a major change that needs to happen, at which point all the modifications that are still applicable will be incorporated.

I can easily see a "Standard Wireless Table" being manufactured effectively unchanged for the whole of WW2.

Chris.
