Default markings

Can anybody tell me what markings belong on a Universal carrier?
I'm trying to replicate (in 1/35 th scale)a carrier used by the 53rd Welsh Division, 158th regiment.
I have found several photo's in the collection of the Imperial War Museum, but they are a bit blurred, so you can't make out any numbers on the vehicle.

Do you mean 158th Infantry Brigade and if so, which battalion or component of the brigade are you looking for?

Yes, My mistake.
That's the one I mean.
And in specific 1/5 Welsh Bn.
Because they liberated the hometown of my grandfather.
(or at least the part he lived in)

Hi Barry;

1/5th Battalion, The Welch Regiment from 4 August 1944 onwards -

Formation Sign used: that of 53rd (Welsh) Infantry Division (see thumbnail)
Arm of Service marking used: '62' on a green background (see attached image)

Hope this helps

Cheers

Hello Mark,

This helps me a lot , thank you!

I take it the 62 sits on the right front fender, but where does the Welsh-marking go?
And what markings where placed on the rear of the carrier? (if there were any...)

Hi Barry;

The diagram in the attached thumbnail shows the 'basic' location for the Arm of Service (AoS) marking and the Formation Sign marking on the front and rear of a carrier.

The '62' would go in the 'AoS Here' location and the 53rd Welsh Div marking would go in the 'Formation Sign Here' location on the attached diagram.

Cheers

Unfortunately Alex, that is one parade I will not be able to attend ... grandchildren & daughter plus wife have other plans for me this weekend ... mainly being their duty driver ... give the young lad a good send off and don’t forget to remind him that the Blue Beret does not actually stop incoming rounds ... it’s just an aiming mark ... in more ways than one ...

Cheers

Mark

Have you got the correct backing colour for the Divisional Badge?

From memory the BD badge is red on green.

Hi Neil;

The example I used is an artist's impression only (and the only clear one I could find at the time). On BD the Divisional Patch had a red W on a khaki background, on Divisional transport the red W was on a green background.

I should have mentioned in my earlier post that the background colour for transport was green.

Cheers

Hello Neil,

This might be a stupid question, but what do you mean with "BD Badge"?
