Default 44th RTR? and unusual marking

Can anyone confirm either of these, please.
Both are from British Pathe
1851.02 ( Italy 1943 - 1944 ) frame 233 show a universal carrier bearing an almost Crusader or Knigths of St. George style shield on the side above WD serial.
1861.11 Invasion - France frames 560 - 564 shows an early M4 with wading trunk and sand shields welded to the hull rear to for stowage. I cannot see any AoS or other markings only what possibly be "Exactism" on the side. I thought 44th RTR but the name doesn't fit.
Any thoughts?

Cheers
Kevin
