Default US M12's

Can anyone confirm if US M12's were used by the British / Canadians / Polish forces.
If so were they Medium or Heavy Regiments?
Any Aos numbers would be a help too.

Cheers
Kevin

The Americans were the only ones to use the M12 GMC.

Only 100 M12’s were built between Sept. 1942 and March 1943. At first it was intended that the M-12 would be only used for training in the US. However, 74 guns were remanufactured between Feb. and May 1944, to over come deficiencies in the original design. These rebuilt guns were used to equip six artillery battalions for service in NWE. No M-12’s were given to the allies, and they were never used in the Pacific Theatre. With the end of hostilities in Europe the M-12 was declared obsolete.

Well, it depends on how you define "use" actually. To be more precise the Americans were the only ones to organize and field a unit equipped with M12 GMC, since in fact the first "use" of the M12 in the field was the 987th Field Artillery Battalion, attached to 5 AGRA of 30 Corps and in turn 50 Division, for NEPTUNE. And they got quite a glowing report from the BRA as well, he only wished they could have found more opportunities to use them before they were transferred back to First Army.
