Default dash steering column mount

Hi all , I have a question regarding the mount for the steering column under the dash (Chevrolet C15A wire 5 truck). should there not be a system with springs holding it together to allow for movement between cab and chassis*? My CGT has a spring set up , but this is a bigger version .

The spring suspension sytem was not originally fitted to cab 13 vehicles. There is a service bulletin for retrofitting the spring system.
My guess is that it would have been most used on vehicles expected to be used extensively oofroad and subject to frame twisting.

Default Twisting

That's an issue for Ford CMPs also, although I've not seen any modified yet. Usually it manifests itself in fatigue cracks on the dash where it bolts to the cab and also the two bolts from the steering column bracket to the dash.

Thanks for the reply`s , I can't find anything in the spares manual either .
On C8A`s the cab and body is mounted without springs directly to the chassis , so the problem will be less on those .
