Default Canadian 19th Dental Corps Unit

Hi I have a friend who is doing one of the WW2 tours and would like to visit some of the places that his father would have been in during WW2. He has been waiting over a year for his fathers service file but even then it may not give any actual places other than Europe in the field. Does anyone have any records that may help.

Thanks

Pam

Hi Pam

The service record would not necessarily have exact location that your friend's Father served at. It would likely just name the dental unit and/or the higher formation his unit was attached to. It would be nice to have the file but the delivery times seem to be getting longer.

If he was 19 Dental Corps then he likely served at an airfield(s) in the UK.

Here is a useful list of Canadian Dental Corps Units in WW2 from a very useful website:

https://www.canadiansoldiers.com/org...s/cdcorbat.htm

Some background on the whole Canadian Dental Corps (CDC):

https://www.canadiansoldiers.com/cor...entalcorps.htm

No.6 Group RCAF was part of RAF Bomber Command and its bases were mainly in Yorkshire, England:

I hope this is of some small help to you.

I have a book (or booklet?) on the CDC in WW2 somewhere but was unable to locate it just now. I will have a bit more time on the weekend and will have a look for it again. Do you have any personal information on your friend's Father? IE Regimental number, rank, name etc or are they all checked out in that area?

kind regards
Darrell

Darrell.

By any chance does the name, “Robert Glenn” show up anywhere in the paperwork you have available as one of the dentists? I am not sure if the “Dr.” Prefix disappears in Military Service or not.

Hi Pam

I'm sorry to say that I could not find my book on the history of Canada's Dental Corps.

Good news is that I found it online digitized.

Hi David

I did a cursory word search of the book for Robert Glenn but found no match. If you have any other info on him (rank, number, etc) I could continue to look in other places.

There was a Robert David Glenn with some involvement in WW2 dentistry, from Winnipeg:
