Dean

There are instructions how to post pictures here.

http://www.mapleleafup.org/forums/showthread.php?t=19

The normal problem is the pictures being too large.

Dean,
Are these the WWII variety that went on the C/F 8's? Please advise the part number.

Thanks!

I have emailed a couple of photos to a member here asking him to post them here

The NSN for these is 2?20-00-818-8635
The tag also states it is servicable..but that was years ago and it has not been used since

It has a 3 pronged plug on it

I cannot make out the 2nd number of the NSN

Had a quick look around online for that NSN: 2920-00-818-8635

Came back with lots of hits from everything from M151A2 through M113 all the way up to an M109.

Gotta love M-Series stuff.

I'll take your nicest one. I'll PM you to arrange Pick-Up.

If so, these are WW2 Canadian manufacture and are correct for Jim Price's C8. This one here has been 'NATO-ized' in that it's been converted to 24 volt and repainted that dark shiny green. They also added a new data plate on the left side. The originals were khaki, brown or olive drab depending on when they were made and the square panel where the gauge is was painted gray. Maker was Johnson Outboard and Marine, made in Peterborough, Ontario. Many of these still have the lend lease decal showing through the green paint.

If, not, then never mind...

A deeper look at these:

By the looks of things, they were most likely used in an M37 Radio Van (M42?) or similar, based on their age.

That being said, the NSN returned applications for almost everything M Series from the late 50's through to the 70's.

Its externally regulated, so it would require a matching 100 Amp Regulator.

Bruce..thats a differant type of genny than I am offering as you can now see, I guess I was not clear enough in my discription..my fault as I know little about Veh parts..I just seem to keep coming across them.

I will have a few of those types of gennys shown in your photo in the next few weeks..I know where they are..just gotta make a deal on them and get them out..not as easy as it sounds!!!!

Thanks Bruce for your help.....I really have to learn how to resize photos so I can post photos of the "truck"" parts I have or can get hold of.

These will require an external regulator, and possibly a bridge rectifier. I remember some changes to the charging system of the M113s back in the early 80s, and know we got rid of the rectifier. I just don't recall if we changed the generators at the same time.

The M151A2 could use these generators, but they were far and few between if they were installed in Canada. Normally they would have the std 60 amp alternator.

Default Am I right in saying.....

.... if they are generators they would need the upgraded voltage regulator to handle the 100 amps ..... but would not need a rectifier.....

Rectifiers were used ONLY with the retrofit 24 volt alternator such as the upgraded M37B1 from the USA....
