Ford GPW Jeep Question..........
'Morning All,
Our museum (Ashton Armoury Museum, Victoria, BC), has an operational Ford GPW Jeep in the collection. The plywood sheet under the driver's seat, protecting the fuel filler cap, and gas tank sending unit from damage, is getting ratty in it's condition, and on checking the Operator's Manual that we have, doesn't match the photos of this piece in the manual. Would anyone have accurate dimensions for this sheet of plywood, including it's thickness? Thanks in advance. Cheers, Chris Preston Victoria, BC |

Seat
Hi Chris
There should not be a plywood sheet there. The seat should have a metal floor or base panel with openings for the filler and fuel gauge. sender.

Ford GPW Jeep question..................
Hi Mike,
Thanks for the reply. The sheet metal plate you describe makes sense. That said, I'll have to take another look at the Operator's Manual - I'm sure I saw a removeable plywood panel in the diagram. When I looked at our seat frame, I didn't see signs of a metal panel ever being there, but will check again. Cheers, Chris |

If it is an early one with the small filler it would have this style.
The Jeep supply companies all carry these seat pans of the correct style. You could not make one for the price around $40 or $50. |
