Default Humber and Fox Rear Link Cars

Having owned a Humber Armoured Car untill recently, I was always intrigued by the rarest member of the family, namely the Rear Link Car.

For those not familar with this conversion, dummy guns were fitted together with a new mantlet which incorporated a generator compartment for a chorehorse generator. Removing the guns allowed room for a High Power Number 19 Radio set to be fitted.

Other features included stowage for an aerial mask on the rear engine cover, and additional battery stowage under the escape door.

According to George Moore and Dick Harley in Tankette magazine number 25/5, 34 Humber Mk111 Armoured Cars and 21 Foxes were converted by Reo Motors Ltd in the UK.

Other than posed factory shots, I have never seen any evidence of these vehicles having been issued. Has any one?

One possible use may be the GHQ Liaison Regiment, better known as Phantom, but I have no evidence to support this.
