Default Lanchester Mk11 markings

I'm looking for markings for the 2nd Argylls in Malaya 1940, and for the 11th Hussars, North Africa, 1939. These were the last occasions on which this vehicle saw action so I want to model one of them, just haven't decided which yet!
Can anyone help please?

Default Names and Markings

Hi Dave,

I have 5 names of Lanchesters used by 2nd battalion, Argyll and Sutherland Highlanders. They were named after castles, those being Arundel, Blair, Edinburgh, Glamis and Stirling. The AoS I believe was a white 69 on brown.
Hope it helps.

Cheers
Kevin

Hi Dave;

I'm on time this time . The below image is of Lanchester Armoured Cars of the 2nd Argylls in Malaya, 1941-42:

A) - W.D. 468 - front view
B) - W.D. 465 - Blair Castle - rear view
C) - W.D. 465 - Blair Castle - front view
D) - W.D. 465 - Blair Castle - side view

The 2nd Argylls had a platoon of four of these vehicles (and three Marmon-Herringtons) in Malaya in 1941/42, the other three Lanchesters were named: Glamis Castle, Stirling Castle and Edinburgh Castle

There are no real markings except for the W.D. number front and rear and vehicle name.

Regarding the use of these cars by the 11th Hussars in 1939, about the only markings they would have had were the W.D. plates. The 11th Hussars in 1939 were brigaded with the 7th and 8th Hussars in the Light Armd Bde of the Mobile Division Egypt.

Hope this helps.

Cheers

Hi Kevin;

Just a note, the serial '68' on brown would have been the AoS marking for the reconstituted 2nd Argylls (ex 15th Argylls) from Aug 1943 onwards (227 (HIghland) Inf Bde/15th (Scottish) Div). In Malaya in 1940, the original 2nd Argylls were the 'British Battalion' in the 12th Indian Infantry Brigade (Sep 1939 to Feb 1942). I have found nothing in regards to AoS markings except for the WD plate and vehicle names being carried on the 2nd Argylls Lanchester Armoured Cars for the period in question.

Cheers

Default AoS

Hello Mark,

Thanks for that. I will amend my spreadsheet accordingly.

Cheers
