Default How many M22s took part in Operation Varsity?

Hi,

In my opinion Operation Varsity is the most underestimated airborne operation in the WWII historiography related to airborne assaults.

Does anyone know, for example, how many M22 Locust light tanks took part in Operation Varsity? The author of this website informs that 12 and author of this one that 8. The author of this website informs that 8 and the author of this one that 12.

This is rare case in the history when the number between 8 and 12 seems to be so giant that uncountable for the researchers. Do you know credible data about the number of air-delivered M22s during the Rhine crossing on March 24th, 1945?

Thanks in advance.

Best regards

C.

Hello
I have no credible data giving the numbers that were
used in the operation. Only that they were used,as
well as the British Tetrarah.
They were delivered by the Hamicar glider. One
glider and crew was lost over the English channel
