Congratulations with, a bit of a project but the remaining looks to be in a good condition.
I think this is an old picture of it. Does anyone know how different is a Ford Quad body from a Chevy

Story of these truck
Hello
I know the sad story of these truck. Some month before NORMANDY 94 the truck was buy in ENGLAND and the new owner (a french guy) like to do money with old military truck and also mechanic. As the price requested was very high he cuts the top of the truck in the aim to be stores in a shed. He hoped that time passing the price will follow but helas for him it was not the case. (en français cela serait plus simple) Au plaisir Serge |

Great project, it's sad to see how it was wrecked, but Still a great truck to complete! Is there any chance to find the roof, doors or other parts?
Good luck! Frankie |

Hello
thank you frankie I think the doors and the roof will be impossible to find (in europe) But they are not very difficult do built , the body is made of square tubes, but its many hours job. Im just begining to clean the truck, and then I hope I will find a member which can give me some dimentions. regards Sylvain |

Dont give up hope completely on finding the parts (doors etc.) if the body are the same as on a Chevy, odd things can be found in Norway.
Just let us know what dimensions you need, I can take measurements of my rebuild and my unrestored CGT cab 12's and I know that there are other very helpful gun tractor owners on here. cheers Niels

I might get time in the weekend, so I could measure mine.
both mine have a tube cross about 0.5 inch in diameter. I might have found a nose in Norway

What do you think about the rear body and the boxes
All the rear body looks very homemade, bad weldings, different size of steel... Is this rear body and boxes original or was it badly restaured? Regards Sylvain |

Hi Sylvain
It looks like a rebuild rear end, but of the right design. The hatchs have the correct shape but the way they are constructed are not correct, I have attached a picture of how they schould look, they are made of one folded sheet. I have also attached a picture of when mine was rebuild back in the early nineties. The weld of sheet to the frame on mine is originally very crude, have attached a picture, so dont be to worried about that.

From what I have seen the rear body of a Cab 12 and Cab 13 gun tractor, look very identical. But I havent measured a cab 13 to confirm it.
Maybe some of our Cab13 CGT owners can help?

Yes construction of the doors is the same . The doors are not made out of 1 piece , it is a flat piece folded over with a triple folded piece in it , do you get it ? , not so easy to make the folded piece . modern folding machines are pressing from the top , and won`t work .

measurements
Hi
Here are the measurements of the hatches on my CGT. They might vary a bit from vehicle to vehicle.

Sylvain,
Great project, sad to hear it was butchered for the wrong reasons. The bodies were manufactured by independent body manufacturers and could be fitted to either Ford or Chevrolet chassis. The following scan may be of some help for its reconstruction:

Sylvain,
Congrats! That's a nice truck. It always hurts to see a truck a neglected truck.... that was once on the show circuit. But, you have a good base there to build up a nice truck again. Hanno helped me to measure up a FAT body for RichCam a few years ago, but sadly that truck was pretty beaten up and missing the rear section of the body. If they are of any help, I can dig up what we measured, but I am sure Niels' complete truck will give more detailed info. I bought some Chev cab 11 parts from a guy in France a few months ago; he still has some things, but sadly no front panelwork that i know of. I can send his email-address to you by PM if you like. You can find NOS headlights at LWDparts in Holland. LWDparts also have NOS Chev grille surrounds for the Cab11....I think You could use this for a cab 12 with some work on the upper edges (?). Alex

Silvain,
I guess I was tired yesterday, as I hadn't noticed your FAT is a Ford ....not a Chev...so my suggestion for the grille surround was a bit misleading.....as for Ford use you would also have had to modify the air inlets from Chev mesh to Ford louvres. Anyway, I am glad you already have the parts needed in the meantime, Well done! @ Niels. Will do. I will try to dig up the material, this weekend. Alex
