Compasses and Cases
The 1937 Pattern Compass Case will hold any of the Prismatic or Marching Compasses prior to the Silva which was introduced in the 1960s.

Another related question.
Apparently Canadian Kodak Company manufactured both the Mk III and Mk IX Military Compass during World War 2. Quite possibly other Marks were manufactured by them as well. A number of years back at a local military show and sale event, I thought I had seen an instruction manual for a compass printed by Canadian Kodak. When I worked my way back round to the vender, it was gone. Didn't matter at the time as I didn't have a compass. Now the question is, did I really see what I thought, and if so, are there also maintenance or servicing publications out there for the various Marks of WW2 Compasses? I seem to recall the manual I saw was big...8.5 x 11 format, not the more typical smaller instructional pams one often sees for Cdn Field equipment, which may have added to the puzzle at the time. |

It's easy to confuse the Compass Pouch with the Pistol Small Ammunition pouch. The Compass Pouch is marginally smaller than the Pistol pouch and is lined internally with felt, while the Ammn pouch is not lined.
