Default R/H Chevrolet cab 13 CMP fuel tank

G'day all,

I'm chasing a fuel tank in usable or repairable condition for my C60L Blitz. It needs to be the R/H side tank but i would settle for a ford one as i have a couple of spare chev sender units. I'm located in N.S.W Australia and would be willing to have it shipped to me (only if its located in Australia, shipping would be too much of a killer to get one sent from overseas) if its too far for me to travel to pick up. Just let me know what you have and we can go from there.

Contact email is: bruce.beau911@gmail.com

Thanks

Default Have you considered having one made

Hi Beau

As you have probably noticed the availability CMP gas tanks is very limited, read that as scarce. Hope you can find good usable tank.

I need two at the moment and am planning to look at making them they really are pretty simple it is the seam welding that is the big deal in getting a leak-less tank. Before I try I'm considering just tanking my sample tank to a local sheet metal fabrication shop and asking them for a price.

One of the hard bits to find is the filler spout but that is not as bad as it looks as it is basically a standard Ford filler spout for the cab mounted fuel tank of the 30-40-50s same bell shape.

Take a look at the dimensions and construction of my sample tank

Keep us posted on how your search goes, and if you happen to find a warehouse full of NOS tanks, oh well we can dream.

Cheers Phil

Gordon Yeo made up a couple of gas tanks. They did look good although a few minor details didn't match originals. I would much rather live with minor details being "off" than have no tanks at all. http://www.mapleleafup.net/forums/sh...ighlight=tanks
If you don't 100% trust your welding of the tank joints, use tank sealer to correct any minor imperfections. It is claimed safe for sealing pinholes so should cover similar size manufacturing lapses. Lead solder is another sealing option - the heat involved is safe since there's been no fuel in the tanks so far.
A filler neck that might be usable (with modification) is at https://www.macsautoparts.com/early_...ck-375225.html
Tanks Inc sell a variety of fuel tank parts in addition to complete tanks. Sender flanges to stiffen the tank at the sender (either Ford or Chev pattern), filler necks, T-bolts for making replacement hold-down straps, pickup tubes (although it looks as if they are easy to make)

They do have an Australian agent although they look to be on the other side of the country from you.
