Default Daimler Armoured Car seat mystery

I have part of a Daimler Armoured Car Gunners seat post (which I believe to be original) which is rusted off at the base. I have been told from a reliable source that the complete mount stands 10 inches high overall. However the piece that I have is close to 12 inches long which doesn't include the casting that would have been attached to the bottom.

There's a couple of possibilities here... the seat posts came in different heights (the parts book doesn't indicate this), the post that I have is off a different vehicle (possible I guess but it does have Daimler markings) or the 10 inch measurement isn't right (also unlikely but it is possible)... So it's a mystery at this stage.

Is anyone out there able to confirm if the 10 inch dimension is indeed correct or if there were other vehicles that use a similar seat assembly?

I can not comment on the length but this design was also used in British Valentine tanks and thus also Canadian Valentines. From there it was adopted for Ram tanks (all versions). It was probably also used in other British turreted vehicles too. The drivers seat of Rams was also inherited from Valentines and was almost identical to Daimler A/C Mk1.
As you are in NZ I suspect that you have a Valentine one. The part number would not change if the identical part were used in two applications but ANY change would need a new part number.

Default DAC seat - a little less of a mystery

Thanks David. Anyone got a picture of what the Valentine setup looks like?
