Default ID Request

I've been sent the attached images which show a solid cylinder with what I assume is a removable cap. It's looks like a bag charge container or similar, for Naval Service. As can be seen, the raised lettering states '5 " Tank Mk VI Mod-1' and 'NS 1940'.

I'm presuming 'NS' is Naval Service. Am I correct? Can anyone provide some positive identification and use information about this 'tank Mk VI', please? - (Don't get excited Colin, I don't think it is a part for your MkVIA!)

Sorry about the sideways images - don't know why they loaded that way.

Mike
