Default Short Snorter ?

Gentlemen: I'm working with a newspaper to do a story for Remembrance Day. It's based on a WW11 Italian Lira note, which I bought off ebay. The note is signed by 22 soldiers while on duty with the Cdn.Perth Regiment while fighting in the Italian Campaign. The newspaper will be giving copies of it to the siblings of one of the soldiers who signed it, KIA Dec. 20th 1944.
My neighbour has mentioned that these notes were called a "short snorter", which is an American term. Was there a Canadian Term for these notes? I seem to recall that, but I could be wrong. I would appreciate any ones insight.

Cheers.....Robert
