Default new jeep CFR request

Hi guys
I just got a 1950-1952 Willys Jeep M38. It will require a rebuild but I think it is worth it. During the initial clean up we removed the data plates on the dash and we found another data plate on the frame. Can someone help me ID the vehicle. Here is the information on the data plate.

CFR 51-33264
Chassis number38442
Rebuild Date 5 59
Wksp No 23 BW

Gilles,
Your M38 sounds like a typical Canadian Willys M38 purchased in the fall of 1951. Do you have the dashboard serial plates? If so then the Willys serial number should be 38442 with a date of delivery 10-51. Can you confirm this?
Is the CFR 51-33264 stamped on the top of the left front frame between the bumper and the grill or did you just find it on the rebuild plate?
If you have the dashboard plates can you check to see if the M38 model number is suffixed with "CDN" or just plain M38.
The 1959 rebuilt date is typical of a vehicle rebuilt in Germany at 23 BW: a previous post on MLU discussed this rebuild facility. It is best to cross-check the rebuild plate info with the dashboard plates and frame CFR because they were often sloppy in stamping the correct numbers at the time of the 1959 rebuilt.
Definitely a Canadian M38 and worth preserving. .... Brian

23 Base workshop was in Germany, so it sounds like your Jeep has seen the cold war. http://baor-locations.org/23BaseWorkshop.aspx.html

Unfortunately the 50s Jeeps were diposed of prior to the computer records, so there will not be anything on it on the DND database.

Edited to add: I took a phone call while writing my response, so Brian beat me to the punch.
