Default Tulip Festival Parade, Ottawa, 10 May 2014 *UPDATE*

All,

This is an initial heads up and call-out to all vintage military vehicle owners and WW2 Commonwealth re-enactors interested in participating in this years Ottawa Tulip Festival Parade (10 May). The Tulip Festival organizers are very keen to re-connect the festival with its historical roots. This will be a big event, and an even bigger event next year as it will coincide with VE+70. They are looking for predominately WW2 allied vehicles but post war MVs are welcome, as are "captured" axis vehicles as the parade will have a Liberation theme . The parade will start at the Canadian War Museum and end at Queen Juliana Park, Dows Lake, with the vehicles and other setups on display at this location following the parade. The standard questions have been put forth to the organisers wrt parking, lunch, camping, gas money etc. Further details will be posted here as they become available. I will be the point of contact for this event. Please PM me if you're planning to take part.

Hope to see you there,

Jeff

All,

As some of you may have heard, the PMO has declared 9 May 2014 a National Day of Honour http://www.pm.gc.ca/eng/news/2014/03...nal-day-honour. Although the Tulip Festival parade was planned well in advance, this late development has resulted in a direct hit to the powder magazine as far as the parade is concerned. Due to competing resources, the festival parade has been cancelled for this year. Next year’s parade is still on course to be “the big one” however.

That said, the WW2 Allied encampment at Dows Lake is STILL ON. This will include static displays of WW2 vehicles and re-enactor displays as before. Details such as Friday overnight camping, parking and other details are being finalized. More to follow.

With regrets, unless the gas tank gets back into the M151A2 on time and and and, I will not be attending.
