Default Drawings for No1 Australian body

Hello there to all at MLU. Probably a question for the computer literate or administrators.

I have finished building the No1 Australian timber tray for my C15, a friend who is a professional draftsman is about to complete the drawings. There will be about thirty six pages in all. Jim (the draftsman) is happy for MLU to reproduce his drawings in the forum for the use of members.
My question is: are there protocols to acknowledge the author and how are the drawings published, Pdf etc.

Happy Xmas to you all, we expect high 30s temp as usual for Xmas so should be pleasant to work on the trucks.
Robert Sexton

Hello Robert,

Very nice of you to offer this sort of content for the benefit of the MLU membership.

It would be best if the draughtsman made pdf version of his drawings, and include a footnote containing his name, intended use and attributing yourself as well. An example could be “Construction drawings made by Jim [draughtsman], based on original No.1 Australian GS body owned by Robert Sexton. These drawings are intended for use by the members of Maple Leaf Up Forum. Copyright 2017 Jim [...] and Robert Sexton.” That may be a bit elaborate, but you get the point.

Then, email it to me and I will make it available here.

Regards,
Hanno

Hanno, thanks for your prompt reply. I will consult with the Jim (draughtsman) and if he approves of your suggested format of publishing then we will go with that. The drawings are extensive and detailed and he expects them to be finished in the New Year. The scales, perspective, footnotes etc are all part of the art of drafting which is way out of my league and I am not involved in that part.
may the Xmas be a happy one for all,
Robert

Robert,

These drawings are a work of art in themselves! Please thank Jim for making them and thanks to you for sharing them.

Here is a link for the use of any MLU member, courtesy of Robert: Drawings, No 1 Australian body - copyright Robert Sexton

Robert's note: the drawings are missing the tailgate as there was not anything left on my tray to take measurements from, it is hoped that I can track down one that Wayne Henderson knows of and take measurements and then Jim (draughtsman) will add this and make the drawings complete.

Who can help with measurements for the tailgate?

Thanks,
Hanno

Here is what is left of the tailgate, being timber and outside it is falling apart as time marches on...

Excellent !. Did GMH manufacture these ? I believe the MCP type Indian pattern bodies were made by a outside firm .

If only we had drawings for many of the other body types

Mike, there was not anything left on the tray to indicate where it was made, I would assume that the tray was locally made.
The locker boxes and tyre carrier were built to a much higher standard and closer tolerances than the tray so it would be safe to assume that these were separate manufacturing identities. There are at least three different species of timber in the construction,I assumed that in 1942 they would have used whatever was at hand in seasoned timber.
There was a rectangular zinc plate caught under the headboard that said in part "maximum allowed weight 7500 lbs, General Motors Canada", I made the assumption that this plate came with the chassis etc and was fixed somewhere on the body after assembly in Oz.
regards, Robert

Default Body

Maybe we have seen this pics already ?

Were these bodies normally fitted to the Chevs only ?

The last pic appears to be a cab 11 C15. Would make a interesting project for somebody . Barry Ryan when he was at Shepparton had a cab 12 C15 years ago as did the late Vic Philips . Another cab 12 C15 was found down Geelong way , I went to have a look at it but I was given the wrong directions - Malcolm Dunn bought it.

Another cab 12 C15 was down here at Boisdale , an elderly couple at the Traf swap meet had it for sale some years ago. I think one of my NOS doors went towards it but I've not heard anything . The truck had been converted into a semi trailer outfit.
