Bags, Waterproof, Signal, No6 - 1944
Following a theme from Daniel last year... fairly sure this is likely to be for the WS18... but this is based purely on the size and shape of the bag and not any evidence... padded out with an old box... not a WS18.
Anyone know for sure. Tim |

There were also waterproofing sheets, tubes of "Bostik" adhesive/sealant and "asbestos mastic" for sealing cable entries and bag necks. The closure method for that No.6 bag was to close the neck of the bag up, possibly filling it with putty, then fold it over, place the cap over it and bind it tightly to prevent water ingress. One of the WS22 manuals has "Preparing the set for wading", which I think allowed the set to be pre-tuned and operated on R/T with some difficulty - the headset being outside the bag and all the cable entries (and battery vents) carefully sealed up until the landing was complete and there was no risk of sea water getting in. If you are able to find the list, that would be excellent - thanks. In the meantime, I have found that Bag No 5 is listed on the WS22 schedule when used with the Handcart. Cheers Tim |
