Default Number on C60L seat cushion

After taking off an old worn canvas seat cushion cover, which covered an original canvas, there is a number stencilled on it. Any info as to what the numbers are - is it a vehicle reg number or fleet number etc. I know in our more modern land rovers in the military we had reg numbers painted on all removable cushions which we removed when parked up along with light lenses etc in case they were stolen overnight. I have a photo below. The no is LM26-83

Thanks

Gary

Interesting, Gary. Any idea where it came from?

I'm asking as post-WW2 the Netherlands Air Force used registration numbers in the format LM (for Luchtmacht, or Air Force), dash, two digits, dash, two digits - see the attached photo of a fire brigade Jeep. I must add this is a bit of a long shot as in the early postwar years when CMPs were in use an earlier form of registration was used.

Gary,

So the ex-Netherlands Air Force provenance is definitely an option. I'll see if I can find out more. Problem could be that this type of registration could be reassigned to a newer truck once the old one was struck off charge.

Regards,
Hanno
