Default Daimler scouts in Normandy

Hi,

I'm trying to find information on which units were equipped with Daimler dingo scout cars during the time of the Normandy landings. I've seen various photos but no unit insignia. I've tried unit equipment tables but they just show 'Scout cars' which could mean anything, Daimler, Humber, White etc.

Does anyone know if Landing craft vehicle allocations are available for the British Beaches?

Thanks,

Tim.

hi Tim,

I restored a Dingo back in 2004 for a customer, he wanted it marked up as Inns of Court Regt, they took part in a special mission to take some bridges in the Caen area ASAP after landing. He told me that the only Daimler scouts to be landed on D-day its self were these, and some of them were lost, never getting off the beach.

Hi,

What a great website, the HQ 8 Armoured Brigade looks like it deserves more research as the listed scout cars are mainly crewed by 2 men.

All i know for sure at the mo is that the Inns of Court landed on DDay and 2nd Household Cavalry Armoured car Regt with Dingos in July.

Thanks for the help,

Tim.
