I took the family for a drive to see the beauty of the change of seasons. The drive past Rockland, Ontario along the Ottawa river was beautiful. A lot of yellows and some red tints to the local countryside.
We came upon a flea market and decided to stop in. At one booth I found these two items: ![]() Since the C Broad Arrow peeked out at me, I had to buy them. the bags are canvas, about a foot deep, and the straps are about a foot long each. There are two soft metal strips riveted along the opposite lengths of the bags. I really don't know what they are for, but they are vintage Canadian military items. Anyone out there with some ideas??? The tag is a shipping tag with almost all of the ink faded out. ![]()

Rob, are they perfectly round, or half-moon, or what? With the steel you can bet they're designed to take weight... carrying some sort of dixie perhaps?

The bags are cylindrical having round openings and bottoms. The straps join at the ends (typical army tab and clasp arrangement) and of course are adjustable. The metal stays are very pliable and I guess they are there to keep the bag from collapsing.
The 10 inch by 10 inch stones provide some proportional representation.

Haven't seen you about for a dog's age, Ed; I trust you're keeping well?
I was going to make a smart-ass comment to the extent that 'you've got one of everything the Canadian Army ever used, dont you?', then I decided not to, but what the hell... I wouldn't be surprised if you do, after all that! ![]() That pic you sent me quite a while back, the one of you in a chopper - that was in Bosnia, wasn't it? Mind if I post it? ![]()
