Default convoy disc

I am finishing up my F15a restoration and am wondering where the white convoy disc was mounted or did they just paint the rear diff. cover? I have an original disc but I don't recall seeing them mounted the trucks..

The back of the diff was painted white on all vehicles unless it would not be visible from behind as in the case of a civilian type bus for example.
