I believe Robin it is a CJ3.
At any rate, it is a Willys civilian model someone has tried to make look military.

It could be a M606 (military assistance program) vehicle, but one would have to look closely at the actual vehicle to determine that. There were variations to the M606 so one could not discount it by things like Willys markings, blackout lighting, position of the axe bracket, etc. But it could just as likely be a CJ3B that someone tarted up to look military. M606s are pretty rare in North America. I do remember seeing the Turks with the odd one in Cypress.

Quote:
It is a proper Jeep - a CJ-3B. Although a "civilian" jeep, the CJ-3B was sold in huge quantities to armed forces across the globe. What springs to mind is The Netherlands, Switzerland, USA, and even Canada had a few - and assembled them! The CJ-3B's for military customers were militarised by adding olive drab paint and blackout lighting, differing in detail from customer to customer. Besides procuring the CJ-3B, the US Government ordered a proper military-spec version too. This was dubbed the M606 and was exported as military aid to friendly nations. Robin.
Definitely a CJ-3B, tarted up. Falconbridge operated a small fleet of these vehicles for their field geologists well into the 1970's. Our Department Head at the University of Manitoba had one at his disposal for several years while doing consulting work for Falconbridge. It was a military looking semigloss green with a hard cab and the Falconbridge logo on each door. It had the tall hood to take the overhead valve 4 cylinder. A few were sold off in Northwest Ontario eventually, but the majority went on the block somewhere in the Southern Ontario area. David |

So, my stab at the identification is essentially correct.
