Default 25pdr Wheels and Axle???

Hello all

I found a hay cart on a farm this week that had what appears to be four 16inch 25pdr rims. The cart also had two solid steel tube axles.

Can anyone help out with the rim and axle ID.

Thanks

Looks like 25 pdr wheels and hubs but the axle looks made up, this is quite common on old farm trailers. If the trailer is getting scrapped it would be worth cutting the hubs off and saving them. The bearings are particularly hard to find !

Judging by the style of the lugs on the rim I would say the wheel rims were made by Kelsey Hayes.

Default Limber axles

Appear to be a No.27 trailer/limber axle and wheels.
Wayne.

Which reminds me - I have two of these available which I saved off a similar trailer in Gippsland recently.

Thanks everyone for your replies

I had a feeling the axle may have been off the limber but wasn't sure. Years ago, I had seen a limber sitting on blocks on a farm in Yorkrakine with the wheels missing. I was told that the limbers were popular with farmers as the wheels and axles were of use to them. I can now see why

The hay cart belongs to a friend so the wheels and axles are safe from the scrappies
