Welded hull

Hello can anyone help

A friend of mine has a welded hull carrier anyone know of any others in the UK or has anyone got any good photos of one, It was a good lower hull and track guards but only had 2inch of top armoure all the way round, he made the sides up but the bulkhead and some bits were a bit of a guess.
After seeing mine hes trying to make it correct but we think this is the only one in the uk that we have found so far.....

Martyn i thought that later mk2's and mk3's were all welded tubs ? i would have thought these would be more prevelant than mk1's, just goes to show

any photos would be helpfull, I will take some photos of his when i next see it.
this one was cut down and used as a pumping station in a quary, it looks like a mk1 from the rear as it has the two holes near the diff but its welded? nice to see a welded one after only reading about them

What is the removeable front plate(glasis plate) like?

Hi Thanks for the photo the front plate i think is the same as that in the photos but carnt be sure as not had a propper look at it whats the bulkhead and look like and the air boxes as these are the parts we are looking to get made again to be more inkeeping, at the moment there is no engine covers and air boxes on her

Hi Martyn, That Carrier photo CD I sent you last year had some pics of a restored welded hull carrier on it, I remember seeing this odd looking carrier on a model making picture reference site. I posted you convoy bracket today.

ok now iam getting confused whats the diffrance between a mk1 no 2 and a mk1 no 3 welded hull, is a mk2 the same as a rivetted carrier with airboxes or or not could any one shed some light on this looked in nigels book not a lot of help on this one

The No.1, No2, No3. all refer to the size/model of Ford V8 motor.
I believe the Mark III refers to the Welded hull construction ( and the associated changes i.e. air ducting) introduced at the same time.
The Armoured O.P.(observation post)MarkIII, was by October 1942,identified as being an incorrect nomenclature, and was re designated as;
Armoured O.P. No. 1, Mark III (W)
they are essentially the same shape as a rivetted hull Mk1 (Same sand guards. No side steps,but altered to suit the A.O.P. role)
