It was buried. For some reason someone cut off the back portion of my track guards and grafted on by welding, a cut down section of front fenders. After cutting those off I could clearly see the number 25930. What I know about the carrier is that I imported it from Canada and that it is a MKII. I didn’t really see numbers in Nigel’s book that looked right. Does this number mean anything to anybody? Yes I know that two of the pics are of the wrong side they are just an example of what I found because I must not have taken any of the other side.

You might find another digit under that weld?

25930 is right for a mkII carrier. They ran up to just beneath the 29000 mark.
Mark 1 carriers ran from 1 until somewhere up around 18000 (highest mark 1 I have seen anyway). The mkII carrier production may have overlapped the mk1 carriers a bit, then continued on to the end of UC carrier production. |

I don't have a bunch of numbers to compare with, so I cannot give you the date. My guess would be 44, but that is all it is; a guess. If you look at any of the fittings on your carrier, they will all be dated. Even some of the washers had part numbers and dates. If you see some 44 dates, then that's likely what your carrier is. They likely had parts on hand for a few weeks or months production, so 43 dates on the parts could still be a 44 carrier.
The radiators also had a very precise date on them, on a little plate in the hollow just above the fan. Of course, rads could be swapped out occasionally. Last edited by rob love; 18-09-10 at 06:15. |
