Indeed Ryan, well worth posting. I recommend any passer's by to take the time to have a look.
Liked the Hurricane shot, kids loved the Italians hiding in the cactus and the searchlight.

One caption mentioned that Italian POWs were sent to London. There was a camp in Osterley Park which was then in Middlesex, but since 1965 in west London, and they were released on parole to go into town. Dad says that they frequented an Italian-owned tea/ice cream restaurant called Rossis and had to endure cat-calls from the public.

I like the picture of the carrier leading the mass of prisoners. A mark of the authority the little carrier created for itself. Quite symbolic.

I don't know much about carriers. In photo 6 the side armour is sloped what type of carrier is this?

Hi robert, it's an early carrier, an LP1 or early british type, I'm sure quite sure which. Before they went with the more 'universal' type.

my friends, is BREN carrier. A proper one. (Carrier Bren, No2 MkII) probably.

I've seen #41 (Nebelwerfer) in different publications describing the location from Normandy to Stalingrad.
This obviosly staged photo reminds me of how careful one should be when viewing photo records.
I think there is a value to such photos in that they set a mood or tell a tale, as long as we recognize that it's a tall tale.

i think what makes the photos so interesting is the text that goes with each one it really brings them to life and let's you know the tale behind each one which adds a personal touch.
the dead italians blown to pieces with their ammo convoy really brought home what wars are all about, poor buggars.
