Default 1945 GSW Crate Ident Request

Good day,

Have be following the fourm for a while but for some reason or another never signed up, well that has changed.

I am currently searching for the proper identifcation in regards to a 1945 GSW crate in which I received as a gift.

What I am intrested in specifically is if it was an ammo can for a specific round or did it
contain multiple cans, example 7.62 linked

The demensions of the crate are as follows: Length 38" Width 11" Height 6.5 "

Any information would be helpful. Thanks in advance.

The C323 indicates Cartridges, though a quick search fails to find 323. I suspect it is either for 4.5 or 5.5 propellant charges or 3.7" AA rounds, all of which were classified as cartridges.

Default C323 Mk I

Nice item, the C323 Mk I contained 2 x Rounds 17-Pr APCBC. There was also the C310 which held the same rounds or H.E. Shells Mk I T.

Of the ones I have seen out here, a few have 3.7" painted on them.

Default Ammunition Contianers

The C235 (which kinda looks like a C323 but isn't) held 2 x 3.7 in rounds.

Thanks for the information in regards to the question. Never previously seen one such as that, and to be honest at I wasn't thinking it was for rounds.

Cheers,

Pete
