I feel that I need to correct this to "A Ford Tool" used also on carriers, but used on a range of ford axles. The "BB" is not carrier specific.

I believe the BB refers to 1932 as the year of introduction to that part.

Rob,
Interesting on the BB designation as being that year.
Any other date codes for Ford tools like that?
Good stuff for the book.

Bruce

If you do a bit of research on the net, or even on the front section of the parts books, there were a couple of parts numbering systems in the 30s. The first two to 5 digits of a Ford part number (which is then followed by a group number then possibly a revision letter) can tell a lot about when a part was introduced and what it was originally produced for.

Hi Bruce,

I think Marcel Both would like this one as he was sad he missed out on the first one. Please reserve this one for him as I can't reach him at the moment. Thank you!

Regards,
