Default Mk1* gunners rifle rest image request

Folks I am just after some close up images of the angle that fits in the gunners firing aperture on the mk1*. Is the angle the same size as the angle used for the rifle rests in the rear compartment ? Does it mount on the inside or the outside of the front armour ?

Cheers in advance

Richie

I can't do measurements, but here are pictures. The High rubber is British, the low one Canadian, how ever I think both steel bits are Canadian (the British stud is pointed?)

Default rest

Rich, Have a look at the thread 'mk1 carrier front gunners firing support plate'. The rubber part can be made from an old carrier tyre, this is what I did. I can measure the angle on mine its NOS if you like.

Default NOS nipples

Turn the nipple out on the lathe.
I believe Brian Asbury may have the mounting plate with nipple as NOS.
Remember the fastener backing plate strip, TL 13069 which is on the front of the armour.

Rich, had a rummage in the carrier parts warehouse and located one, I can post it up to you or post when I send the down pipes if you let me have your flanges first.

Rick, I have found two now so have enough for my carriers so no need to make them for myself, I am sending one to Richard to borrow to copy, can let you borrow the other but you already have a pile of stuff on 9 month loan.

Rich, I have cut all the metal today, to make two for you and rick, got to wait for my welder to infill the tray corners, give us a couple of weeks, these will be complete with correct size strap in rubber, unless you need the later canvas style strap?.

Wouldn't mind another set of those rear mk1 mudguards if you have another, no bother if you have moved on to making other stuff.

Default TL versus CTL 13068

I just checked my reference samples: the CTL version has the 2 countersunk holes for screws that fasten the rubber pad. The British TL 13068 does not have these 2 holes: perhaps the pad was glued-on? ......... Brian
