Default Bren Carriers and Bicycles

Hi Gals & Guys,

This one is mainly for Kartman who wasn't aware that bicycles were used in warfare. The caption of the back of the photograph is as follows.

British Official Photograph No. HM 906
War Office Photograph. Crown Copyright Reserved

Britain's Cyclist Army

With experience of parachutists gained while they were in Belgium, the Black Watch now stationed on the South Coast, have taken steps to ensure their being able to deal with any effort made by the enemy to land troops from the air.

Being equipped with cycles and always near during normal training to enable a quick movement at the first alarm, the Black Watch are confident of being able to deal with any effort to invade their territory from the air should the enemy attempt it.

Bren carriers and Cyclists on their way to the objective.

I don't think I am breaching any copyright here as it is a post for research and therefore allowable under the Berne Convention.

Bob
