New OMVA Executive
Today at the OMVA swap meet Peter Simundson made an announcement, that there is a new executive for our club! They are, my self Les Fisher, Barry Churhcer, Robert Grieve and Brian Olivieri. We are happy to serve you and our club as the new team. My hope is to bring us together to continue the preservation of military vehicle transport and all it's history. The history around are vehicles, the fun we have in restoring, driving, and showing them is best reason why I think our club should continue to exist.
The current plan although not yet very ambitious is to have two swaps meets at the current location in Acton and one OMVA rally at the Milton Steam show on Labour Day weekend. There is much that needs to happen before we can announce firm dates. I can say that at the end of the next swap meet we will have a quick AGM. Please fell feel to contact any one of us if you have any question. I look forward to your questions and comments. Thanks Les...

I would like to say I most heartily congratulate you folks on becoming the executive and commend you for volunteering.
A couple of ideas to throw into the melting pot. Consider alternating eastern and western ontario venues for both the rally and swap meet. Shame that your Labour Day weekend rally has a conflict with Coe Hill. Can not be helped I am sure. Any newsletter thoughts? Good luck to all involved. Guess I will send some money, can we do it electronically?

Robin thanks for the input. Although at this time we have only considered one year at a time. Nothing should stop others in our hobby from planning a local rally like, Oshawa Tank Days, Coe Hill or the local Dairy Queen for that matter. The OMVA has been struggling and just keeping us going with only a few events on the schedule is what I perfer for the coming year. Nothing says that won't change in the future if enough members are around to help. You should expect new letters, but they will be by way of electronic means. Much easier, cheaper & convenient which will in fact lead to more communications. As for Coe Hill it wasn't an OMVA event from what I understand although many of us were their and part of the event structure. On another note those that have been running things for many years are getting a little tired. I think the Milton Steam Show event may just be the answer for all the hard workers at Coe Hill. I would hate to be seem as competing with them. However the reality is that many OMVA club members have been showing up at the Steam Show and it is quite a nice venue. The electronic payment question is being considered. Les...

Thanks to all for stepping up. Best of luck to you all.
As for conflict of dates with Milton and Coe Hill, I am hearing that the Coe Hill event is now at an end. Same old, same old. The old warhorses at the wheel are tired. And, funding for the event had been cut. |
