Post LVTs in support of First Canadian Army in NWE, 1944-45

Came across the following two photos of LVTs in support of First Canadian Army in NWE, 1944-45, I thought they be be of interest to some.

1st photo:

Mark,

Great photos. Do you know how many LVTs the 1st Canadian Army had?

Hi Arron;

We didn't actually have any. In NWE all LVTs that supported both First Canadian Army and Second British Army were held and operated by personnel of the British 79th Armoured Division (Hobart's Funnies), whose assets were tasked out in support of either Army's operational requirements by 21st Army Group.

Cheers

Default More LVTs

Hi there

Here's one showing a rather battered Canadian-pattern MB being backed into an LVT-4 and another of a fitter doing some welding work on the tracks. Must have been an un-ending job.

Default Welding photo

Hi there

Notice the original censor's markings.

Also, note the lack of background in PA-145769. I've seen the original neg and the whole BG has been painted out (White Out Mk.I)

This last photo reminds me of what I did over Christmas. Anyway I have attached a before and after of my escape hatch area repair to my LVT.

And it is a slatt grill Canadian contract jeep to boot. Great to see such an early jeep still earning its keep in front line duty by 1944.

And here's a pic of a rather battered Canadian backing into an LVT with Mt. Suribachi (Doss, Texas) in the background.
