Default CMPs for sale in Belgium

Currently there is quite a rich crop of CMPs/Commonwealth vehicles to be found for sale on MilWeb:
  • Chevrolet C 15 A
  • Chevrolet C 60 S wrecker
  • Watertank for 15 Cwt truck
These were/are offered for sale by Jaap Rietveld, I found some pictures of the 15-cwt and the wrecker at Jaap's stocklist page:

I have no connections with the seller, I just like to see CMPs go to a good home!

Regards,
Hanno

It turns out this C15 was bought from Jan Roelse in Holland, and later sold on to Mr Raab in the Czech Republic.

Babel had a tough time translating from Dutch to English:

Quote:
construction year 1939. Engine overhauled with new Cylinder head, flaps, flap feathers, seals,… . Nicely rare vehicle in good state.
Thank goodness someone has gone to the trouble to put those bird-like features into the engine. She should really fly now!

But seriously, what a gorgeous truck.

Yes, probably an ex RAF truck, than...

Oeps, should have translated it. ....new valves, new valve springs, new seals.

A very nice truck indeed.

You are right Hanno. I must have really needed that vacation.

Indeed, two different contacts for the truck. Someone helping out someone else, or someone trying to make a buck selling someones elses truck?

Yes, I think you are right. When I first met the owner many years ago at Dirk´s place, he told me he was going to fit a diesel engine.

Just posting it here, it must fit someone´s taste.

Argghhhh Awful....but a truck with a history nonetheless. I guess the proper route would be to restore it with the current body.

According to the ad it's a 1941 Chev....so, probably a C15A in stead of a C8A?

Alex

Alex, you are quite correct, it does have a history and as indicated on another thread that I can't seem to find there is room for restorations of this type. The Dutch body builder has converted this to a very attractive vehicle and it sure would be a nice conversation piece here in Castleton.
Cheers,
Barry

Alex, Barry,

The Dutch coach-built C8A-based fire engines first came up in Wheels & Tracks magazine. It turns out several have survived in this form, see http://www.historical-fire-engines.c...915.search.htm for an example.

See CMPs for sale in Holland for another (better) one for sale.

Also see Dutch CMPs for other HUP fire engines in a more standard configuration.

HTH,
Hanno

The ex-RNLAF CMP posted in Dutch CMPs turns out to be an F15A. It is (or at least was) for sale last June (sorry, huge e-mail backlog ). Seeing the inside of the cab is painted red, this F15A could have served as a fire fighting vehicle, either while in RNLAF service or after? It is currently fitted with a diesel engine and runs.

If interested, contact me and I'll send you the owner's address.
