Default Pearl Harbour Photos

Not sure if these are genuine, but they appear to be, and are a fascinating, although somewhat chilling insight into what happened that imfamous day.

They don't look fake to me. I have seen some of them before and a couple of the others are internaly consistant with other pictures in the series. I think my father has some similar ones that I hope to get one day.

Oh my god ... those are incredible photographs. SO devastating

I'm really just leaning a little about the attack on Pearl Harbour, and these photographs are an education I won't forget or miss noticing how big this whole Pearl harbour thing was. The losses were huge. Especially for the Navy who were sitting ducks, to lose so many in one go must have been overwhelming to everyone. How many's lives did that hurt I can't bear to think of that.

I've more to learn about it. I keep hearing that this attack is what launched WW2 ... and what caused the Japanese internments in Canada. What came before I don't know much at all, but I've learned a whole lot, via MLU, about what came after, of course.

I hate war.

Karmen.

Default West Loch

Here's a link to Pearl Harbour's second disaster in WW2 that not many people know about. My cousin was on one of the LSTs (340) that was there in the same line that the explosion was on. His ship was ready to move so they backed away from the anchorage towing a couple of others with them and avoided damage.

I'm sure they are all original. several of the pics have been well distributed and oft shown since the war:

The Battleship Pennsylvania in dry dock behind the the two destroyers USS Cassin and USS Downs.

The magazine of the USS Shaw exploding

are but two of several pics I recognize from books read over the years. Great shots all! Thanks, derek.
